Table time together

Leonard Sweet is a thinker and in his writing are his thoughts and his thoughts go deep. When you read a book from Sweet, be prepared to grapple with it a while. You won’t digest his thought easily because they really cause you to be stretched. His writing is not a simple vitamin to aid your life. His writing is meant to change you and that can be tough. But it is rewarding.

In Western Culture, we are seeing that the tablet is taking precedence in schools and in the home. We are losing community the way it was intended and designed for. We think by plugging in, we are becoming more connected, but the opposite is taking place.

Therefore, Sweet’s premise is to see what Jesus did and His institutes for community. Look no further than your dinner table and meal times. Sweet pushes hard for us to return to the table and allow community to happen. He emphasize that this is how Jesus spent His days and this is also how he left us, with a meal.

If we are going to be connected and plugged-in, it’s going to come at the cost of unplugging from our gadgets. Are you willing to do such a thing? It just might be worth it.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an unbiased review. I was not required to write a positive review.
