Not that different
In this story, you’ll discover that people may look different, but they really aren’t different. We are all cut from the same cloth and made in the image of God. This basic truth permeates through this story from beginning to end.
This story is inspiring and very thought-provoking. In fact, you’ll find yourself provoked of your faults, mis-thoughts and bad intentions when it comes to relating with people. I highly recommend this book for the purpose of self-evaluation and understanding your blind spots when it comes to how you view people.
However, there are some cautionary flags that must be brought to light from this book. There seems to be a lot of God-revelations in this book between the characters, which is fine, but sometimes we read someone else’s story and immediately try to make our life match it or we think our testimony must resemble this to a T. Contrary, we have our own life story and our own experiences that can be shared to inspire and encourage, but doesn’t necessarily have to become the reader’s mirrored experience.
