It is finished…
The bottom line of the Mormon faith is that works produce eternal rewards. This is why so many Mormons are diligent in sharing their faith and volunteering for service projects.
Personally, I’ve encountered many Mormons who will go the extra mile for anything that is needed. But what is the motive for extra mile?
In this book, Starting at the Finish Line, John Wallace, former Mormon, explains why the 3 words that Jesus spoke on the cross, tell it all.
John is very devout in his knowledge of the Mormon faith, but also well-grounded in the grace of God. This gentleness is evident throughout the book as he continuously points to Jesus, whereas Mormons do esteem Jesus, but more so want to add to the work and person of Jesus Christ.
Wallace’s stance on Christianity being sufficient because of it’s All-Sufficent Savior is rooted in the fact that grace is the driving factor in Christians going the extra mile. We work, because of the joy we receive from the work of the Cross, and those works were prepared beforehand for us (Ephesians). Joseph Smith saw Christianity lacking and discovered the Mormon faith to be complete. Wallace’s rebuttal to the Mormon faith is done so with gentleness, respect, and truth.
There simply is no one greater than Christ and the work He did on the cross was enough to satisfy the wrath of God and was enough to offer salvation for all.
