Jesus, from cover to cover

Leonard Sweet & Frank Viola are scholars who work together to bring truth & illustrate it for other scholars and lay-persons.

In their new title, Jesus; A Theography, the authors have provided a text that addresses Jesus, as a whole, in both the Old & New Testaments. Seminarians and biblical scholars may refer to the bible as a metanarrative, meaning that the bible is one complete story comprised within the 66 books of the canon of scripture.

Therefore, it is not 66 separate books that deal with 66 different truths or theologies. From the beginning of creation to the ultimate return of Christ, the bible is a whole story concerning Jesus.

Sweet & Viola use this new title to illustrate, explain, and piece together the Old & New Testaments to show and teach that Jesus is the cornerstone of all things.

One appreciation for this title is that it is reader friendly. The book is designed with the reader in mind and is written for laypersons to pick up and digest, spiritually. The word, theography, is not an everyday word used by church members/Christians in the workplace. Do not let the subtitle intimidate you or keep you from reading this book.

Some may argue that the authors did not go deep enough, or that it was not rooted in “historical” documents. But the authors are heavily rooted in the scriptures and that is where it begins and where it ends, concerning truth.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
