Going Deep

“The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people.” – Richard Foster

Foster put it well in his statement (above).

Gordan MacDonald writes on the subject matter of spiritual maturity. The world is lacking deep people in the general population. When one considers a person of dignity, excellence, and depth – they first think of a military soldier, and rightfully so. However, those who profess faith in Christ need to pursue the following…

  • The wisdom of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:12)
  • The goal of knowing Christ more (Philippians 3:12-16)
  • The solid food of the Word (Hebrews 5:11-14)
MacDonald has also written similar texts on the spiritual discipline of Ordering Your Private World and also Who Stole My Church?
